Stripping

Floor Sealers personnel have been highly trained by a now retired professional trades person specialising in stripping and seal Slate and natural stone floors, this person had over 30 years’ experience working with slate and troubleshooting various projects.

Stripping a floor requires patience and good floor work practices, you can aggressively clean slate to remove dirt deposits and soil, but professional stripping is necessary to remove old coatings.

Stripping Slate/natural stone is a four part process and can present some difficult challenges for the inexperience cleaner.

Stripping is highly recommended for slate floors where there is a build-up of old sealer, flaking is occurring around the edges of the floor, whiteness/moisture has appeared on the floor or if the floor has had water damage.

Due to the different types of sealant applied to slate floors, water base, solvent base, wax, or acrylic cross linked finishes we advise that you need professional advice and support in this major project.

Sealing

Floor Sealers specialise in applying quality protective sealers for natural stone surfaces and various concrete pavers.  Most surfaces require some form of protection.

There are two types of sealers, those that penetrate (penetrating /impregnating sealers) also those which leave a surface coating.  The penetrating sealers will leave a natural finish but may alter the colour slightly depending on the type of stone.  The surface coating will alter the appearance of the surface to a differing degrees depending on which product is chosen.

We only use quality penetrating sealers that come with a manufacturers warranty , with one particular sealer offering a 15 year warranty, sealed for life.

Where penetrating sealers are concerned they are available in a variety of chemical forms which include solvent, alcohol and water based sealers.

After your stone has been professionally laid and cleaned it is highly recommended that a protective coating (penetrating or surface sealer) is applied to protect your investment.  Floor Sealers Vic are using the next generation impregnating sealers which is technology ahead of its time, it is the ultimate in environmentally responsible protection for stone.  With ultra low VOC sealer meets LEED world best practice standards for environmentally sustainable construction and makes cleaning easier
